The Ranch sits in a historic part of Amador County historically known as Forest Home. Forest Home was a freight and stage stopover and there were several active mining claims in the vicinity. Forest Home maintained a Post Office from 1862 to 1905. The settlement was founded by Methodists in the mid-nineteenth century and was a major Methodist Center for many years.
